DESCRIPTION

An unsigned enamel flower brooch: a full chrysanthemum of layered pointed petals in powder blue enamel with a pale blue bead center, a closed bud in the same blue and two sprays of shaded green enamel leaves on a long gold-tone stem. The bud beside the bloom makes it read as a cut stem rather than a badge.

WORTH NOTING

  • Flower and bud brooch
  • Powder blue cold enamel over gold-tone metal
  • Pale blue bead center
  • Green enamel leaves shaded dark to light
  • Long stem
  • Rollover safety clasp
  • Weight approx. 18.7 grams
  • Unsigned; non-precious metal per seller

MEASUREMENTS

  • Approx. 3" L × 1.5" W
  • Flower head approx. 1.5" across
  • Bud approx. 0.6" across
  • Weight approx. 18.7 grams

CONDITION

Fair to good pre-owned condition. The enamel is largely intact, but the petal tips show darkening and small losses to the metal beneath, and the green leaves have light edge wear. The bead center is present, the bud is complete, and the pin and clasp appear to function. Please review photographs for details.

STYLE NOTES

Wear it high on a cardigan or a lapel, angled so the stem runs across.

FROM THE HOUSE

Blue chrysanthemums do not grow anywhere, which is exactly why this one is worth keeping.
