1990s–Y2K Signature by Robbie Bee Brown Corduroy Shirt Dress XL

DESCRIPTION

A new-old-stock Signature by Robbie Bee shirt dress in wonderfully soft fine-wale corduroy, rendered in a muted mushroom brown that falls somewhere between taupe, cocoa and weathered tobacco.

The silhouette is classic late-1990s to Y2K casual dressing: a pointed shirt collar, softly shaped short sleeves, three marbled buttons at the bodice and a long A-line skirt drawn in at the waist with its matching self-tie belt.

The fine corduroy gives the otherwise tailored shirtwaist shape a softer, more relaxed character, while the tonal brown palette makes it particularly good for autumn — boots and a cardigan would finish the matter nicely.

Best of all, this example remains new with its original tags attached, an increasingly uncommon condition for an everyday dress from this period.

Never worn according to its surviving retail tags. As an older stored garment, minor storage-related variation may nevertheless be present.

FROM THE HOUSE

There is something wonderfully autumnal about brown corduroy.

This one has all the ease of a late-century shirt dress — a proper collar, softly shaped sleeves, marbled buttons and a tie at the waist — without requiring much thought beyond choosing the boots.

Better still, it has waited all these years with its tags still attached.
