Vintage 1970s Italian MOD DEP Lemon Glass Liqueur Decanter 500ml Ball Stopper

DESCRIPTION

A distinctive vintage circa 1970s Italian glass liqueur decanter with an unusually broad, flattened oval body, applied lemon or citrus decoration at the shoulder, and matching spherical glass stopper. Marked MOD. DEP. beneath the base and identified as 500 ml, the low-profile flask form has wonderful hand-worked irregularity, including small seeds, ripples, and subtle variations throughout the clear glass.

WORTH NOTING

• Vintage Italian MOD. DEP. glass decanter, circa 1970s.
• Base is molded/marked MOD. DEP. together with 500 and 35 mm.
• Approx. 500 ml capacity, an appropriate scale for liqueur, cordial, wine, or infused spirits.
• Unusual flattened oval / disc / canteen-form body, approximately 8 inches wide but only about 3.5 inches deep.
• Shoulder features raised lemon or citrus fruit decoration, giving the piece particular appeal for an Italian liqueur or limoncello presentation.
• Matching spherical glass stopper has a frosted fitted peg.
• Small seeds, ripples, and irregularities visible within the glass are consistent with its vintage molded/formed construction.

CONDITION

Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with prior ownership. Clear glass retains its wonderful character, including inherent seeds, ripples, and forming irregularities. Matching ball stopper is present with its frosted fitting. Please review photographs closely for the rim, stopper, raised citrus decoration, glass surfaces, and base.

FROM THE HOUSE

This is precisely the sort of old bar bottle that becomes more interesting the longer one looks at it. The broad flattened form is unusual enough; add the lemons, 500 ml capacity, Italian MOD DEP mark, and round fitted stopper, and it makes a rather convincing home for limoncello or another after-dinner pour.
